An examination of the prosecution's evidence in connection with Giga Otkhozoria’s case has been completed at the Zugdidi regional court. The prosecution's evidence includes CCTV footage from the scene shows the moment Giga Otkhozoria was shot; in addition, the prosecution presented an audio recording of the 112 emergency call. According to this audio recording, a man says: “Abkhazians crossed the Khurcha-Nabakevi administrative border and shot a man; he is in need of urgent help”.
The prosecution presented examination conclusions confirming that Giga Otkhozoria neither was drunk nor under the influence of drugs.
The next hearing of Giga Otkhozoria’s case is scheduled for December 26.
Giga Otkhozoria, a native of the Gali district, was shot dead on the Georgian-controlled territory at the Khurcha-Nabakevi crossing point between occupied Abkhazia and rest of Georgia on 19 May 2016. CCTV footage from the scene shows the moment Otkhozoria was shot. Military court in occupied Abkhazia ordered on June 23 house arrest for Abkhaz border guard serviceman, Rashid Kanji-Ogli pending trial on charges of premeditated murder of the Georgian citizen. The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has also charged him with murder.
