Toivo Klaar – The next GID meeting is not cancelled, but postponed

EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, Toivo Klaar has said that the 57th round of the Geneva International Discussions (GID) is not cancelled, but postponed.

"I can confirm on behalf of EUSR Toivo Klaar that the next GID meeting is not cancelled, but postponed," EEAS told the Accent.

EEAS also confirms that the Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussions were refused to arrive in the occupied region:

"The Abkhaz side told us that therefore the present time is inappropriate for the Co-Chairs’ visit."

According to de facto Minister of Foreign Affairs of occupied Abkhazia, Inal Ardzinba the Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussions were refused to arrive in the occupied region.

"Taking into account the cancellation of the 57th round of negotiations planned for February 21-22 2023, the Abkhazian side decided to refuse the delegation of the Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussions to arrive in the Republic of Abkhazia. The delegation was going to visit on February 8-9 to hold meetings with the officials of the Republic of Abkhazia," Inal Ardzinba said.
